German-born Georg Friedrich Händel (1685 – 1759) is widely considered to be one of the greatest Baroque composers. He spent the bulk of his career in England, where he died a respected and rich man. Works such as Water Music and his Messiah have earned Händel a perennial place in the annals of classical music.
