Terrence Malick’s visual style is easily one of the most recognizable in the filmmaking industry. The reclusive auteur has developed a unique aesthetic over the years that is distinctly his. In addition to being one of the most recognizable, his style is also one of the most copied. Malick’s influence on certain filmmakers is undeniable. Whether you want to call it influence, paying tribute, or just flat out ripping-off, we often see a shot, sequence, or even entire films that just scream out “Malick.” Here is a collection of Malick-esque shots from a variety of films that were not directed by Terrence Malick.
