Haunted Memory
In this video essay for BFI, Cristina Álvarez López and Adrian Martin explore the nostalgic cinema of Víctor Erice. The result is a powerful example of one of the defining traits of the video essay: the possibilities it offers to follow a train of thought that is more governed by the laws of poetry than by those of academia. For the narration of this video essay is as lusciously lyrical as the Spanish master’s movies are, drifting from topic to topic unhurriedly.
